French safety bicycle from 1892, manufactured by Clement & Cie and sold as ‘Modele 1892′. Frame: 21 1/2″. Wheels: 30″ (both front and rear). The model is still fitted with leg supports (helpful when riding down the hill), but there's also a brake on the front wheel. A badge with the owner's name is attached to the frame.
Adolphe Clement was an important pioneer of early transportation, and one of France’s premier industrialists.
