Cycle Maurice bicycle with a rare French auxiliary engine, Cyclotrateur. This one is from 1920.
Cyclotrateur is a small 1,5 HP engine weighting 30 pounds. It was first exhibited on Paris Motor Show in 1913 (to the left). The inlet valve is self-acting, exhaust valve is steered mechanically. Bicycle's front wheel is driven with a roller. Two kinds of rollers were available: cast iron roller for dry road surface conditions and and a friction roller for wet wather. The engine kit is lifted and lowered by operating a crank.
