[img]1929 Douglas motorcycle. Douglas was a British motorcycle manufacturer (1907–1957) based in Kingswood, Bristol (see: Douglas. History). The firm was owned by the Douglas family until 1935, then it was bought by BAC (British Aircraft Co.) and finally by Westinghouse Brake and Signal Co. Douglas company is known for its WW1 bikes fitted with horizontally opposed twin cylinder engines (figure to the left) and as leading manufacturers of speedway machines in 20s and 30s.
