Göricke

Maschinenfabrik August Göricke was established on 24 December 1874 in Bielefeld, Germany. They started to manufacture bicycles in 1895, and in 1899 they changed their name to Bielefelder Maschinen- und Fahrradwerke AG, August Göricke (Machine and Bicycle Plant, August Göricke). In 1903 they made debut on motorcycle market, and in 1907-1908 they introduced a three-wheeled car. Their products range embraced motorcycles up to 500cc. In 1921 the name was changed again; now the plant was known as Göricke-Werke A.G.

In 1929 the plant went bankrupt and one year later it was bought by German-Netherlands consortium. In 1941 Göricke-Werke was merged with Maschinen- und Apparatebau Erich Nippel and became Göricke-Fahrrad-und Maschinenfabrik, Nippel & Co. In 50s Göricke manufactured bicycles, mopeds and motorbikes with Sachs and Ilo engines, from 50 to 200cc. In 1964 the plant was bought by Pantherwerke AG, which continued Göricke bicycle brand together with their own brand, Panther.
