1918 Light Twin Model O ("O" engine was horizontally opposed twin with side valves). Light Twin first appeared in 1917 and was produced until 1919. It replaced earlier Model K „Featherweight” from 1916, small motorbike designed for young riders, but it was a little bigger and more expensive, too (221cc „Featherweight” was sold for 150$, Light Twin for 180$). Model O displacement was 257 cc. The bike had leaf-spring fork, 3-speed transmission controlled by so-called trolley car shifter, outside flywheel and fixed ignition timing. "The Light Twin has been developed to meet urgent demand for a machine with full motorcycle qualifications - with modified speed and power, with mechanical simplicity, with sturdiness of build, with economical running cost, with extreme lightness in weight, with utmost ease of control and with initial cost aproximating that of a good bicycle. (...) Lack of physical strength and mechanical knowledge, not financial ability, has heretofore kept thousands of young men and women from dipping into the healthful benefits of motorcycling. It is conceded that a fair amount of strength and mechanical skill are needed to properly handle a Big Twin type of machine. For those who do not wish to assume such responsibility as the Big Twin entails, the Light Twin solves a difficult problem." from 1918 advert
